Saskatchewan Opens Permanent Lab for Ballistics Testing
The provincial government of Saskatchewan has announced the opening of its first permanent ballistics lab in Saskatoon.
The Saskatchewan Ballistics Laboratory, established with a investment of nearly $3.35 million, will conduct firearms testing for all law-enforcement agencies in the province.
The lab is equipped with advanced technology, including:
- A MILO Range for controlled testing
- A water tank and cotton box to safely capture bullets and casings
- A comparison microscope
- BrassTrax technology for detailed analysis
- A Laboratory Information Management System to securely manage case data and results
The lab aims to strengthen gun-related criminal investigations in the province.
