Draft Guru Shares Concerns About Deandre Ayton
Sam Vecenie expressed concerns that Deandre Ayton is not embracing his role as a rim-runner for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Ayton has the potential to be an imposing presence around the rim, enhancing the talent of Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and LeBron James, especially on offense.
“Maybe Deandre will embrace being a rim-runner at some point,” Vecenie said on the Game Theory podcast. “It hasn’t really happened that much in the preseason in terms of like downhill pressure towards the rim, but we will see.”
This is a significant issue for the Lakers, who signed Ayton this summer, hoping it would be a new start for him after his time with the Portland Trail Blazers.
