Hidden 'type 1.5' diabetes affects millions of adults. Here's how to spot it | BBC Science Focus Magazine

Understanding Type 1.5 Diabetes

Millions of adults are affected by a hidden form of diabetes known as "type 1.5" or Latent Auto-Immune Diabetes (LADA).

LADA shares similarities with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, making it challenging to identify and often leading to misdiagnosis.

There are more than two types of diabetes, and type 1.5, or LADA, is one of them.

Author's summary: Type 1.5 diabetes affects millions, often misdiagnosed as type 2.
