Amazon Cloud Outage Disrupts Internet Services
Many popular internet services were offline for hours on Monday due to an outage in Amazon's cloud network.

- Messaging services: Signal, WhatsApp
- Other services: Perplexity AI, Fortnite, Airbnb, Snapchat, Duolingo
- Mobile telephone services and some UK banks, such as Lloyd's, were also affected
Amazon Web Services (AWS) handles nearly a third of the planet's cloud infrastructure market, powering millions of apps and websites.
AWS's maintenance site reported "increased error rates" hitting multiple services at 0711 GMT, prompting engineers to scramble to fix the underlying DNS issue.
