Yazoo County is now 1-0 in district play after a 17-8 victory over O’Bannon.
Dakwon Reasor made three tackles on the opening drive to set the tone for a solid defensive performance for the Panthers. The Panthers were driving and threatening to score until Gabe Shaffer’s pass was intercepted on the 10-yard line.
O’Bannon was finding momentum on the next drive, but Chandler Hardman turned the tables with an interception of his own. Hardman then broke loose on big first down runs before entering the end zone. Cooper Trammell added the extra point kick for a 7-0 lead with 1:45 to go before halftime.
With 41 seconds to go in the first half, Landon Lucas recovered a fumble to bring the Panthers offense back to the field. Trammell tacked on a field goal for a 10-3 lead. O’Bannon’s only touchdown came late in the third quarter on a 70-yard punt return.
