UConn Leads Women's Preseason AP Top 25
Defending champion UConn has been ranked as the No. 1 team in the country in The Associated Press Top 25 preseason women's basketball poll.
The Huskies received 27 first-place votes from a 31-member national media panel.
South Carolina, last season's runner-up to UConn, was picked secondand garnered the other four first-place votes.
- UCLA was ranked third
- Texas was ranked fourth
- LSU was ranked fifth
- Oklahoma was ranked sixth, their highest preseason ranking since 2008
The top 10 was rounded out by Oklahoma State and Maryland. UConn is led by sophomore Sarah Strong and super senior Azzi Fudd under coach Geno Auriemma.
