Sonoma Exhibit Features Artist's Detailed Botanical Illustrations
Sonoma artist Jill O'Keeffe's detailed botanical illustrations are on exhibit at Sonoma Valley Regional Library through October.
When Jill O'Keeffe was a high school student, she was selected to draw illustrations for a book by a prominent botanist, which sparked her passion for botanical illustration.
I learned to love the focus and detail required for botanical illustration, O'Keeffe said.
She loved seeking out tiny details of plants and creating illustrations she was proud of, using live or dried specimens and quill pens to create black and white drawings.
Sixty years later, O'Keeffe still illustrates plants, collaborating with other botanical illustrators to advance her skills, with several of her works on exhibit.
