The city of Eureka is set to revive its utility box art program, which was first introduced over seven years ago as part of the Strategic Arts Plan.
A local artist, Blake Reagan, recently painted a utility box at the corner of Fourth and F streets, marking a potential resurgence of the program.
The original program had brought colorful designs to several utility boxes, including a notable donut cheeseburger on the corner of Fifth and H streets.
The program is part of a larger initiative that includes street art festivals, artistic benches on the Waterfront Trail, and the certification of downtown Eureka as a California Cultural District.
The city aims to revive the program and bring back the vibrant colors that had been added to the utility boxes.
