Adequate ventilation systems are crucial for better protection against viruses like COVID-19, especially for vulnerable groups in healthcare facilities, according to the P3Venti research programme coordinated by TNO.
The programme has significantly increased our understanding of airborne viruses and ventilation systems, providing practical tools for informed decision-making in future pandemics.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we implemented numerous measures despite still knowing little about how the virus behaved,”
says Roberto Traversari, senior advisor and researcher at TNO, who is the scientific lead on P3Venti. Based on the insights gained, seven recommendations have been formulated to enhance national pandemic preparedness.
