Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announces new First Presidency

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the new First Presidency on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

President Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles was named the new leader of the worldwide faith during a live broadcast from Temple Square.

Todd Christofferson were both announced as counselors in the First Presidency, the highest governing body in the church.

This change comes more than two weeks after the death of President Russell M. Nelson, who led the church since 2018 and passed away at his Salt Lake City home on September.
