Prioritized Safety Upgrades on Queensland Freight Route
Safety upgrades are set to begin on a key Queensland freight corridor that handles up to 15,000 vehicles daily.
Planning is underway for a series of upgrades along the 60-kilometre Warrego Highway stretch between Toowoomba and Dalby, known for its poor crash history.
- Road widening
- Flattening road edges
- New signage and line marking
- Removal of roadside hazards
- Installation of dedicated turn lanes at Speed Road near Oakey
Construction, part of the Targeted Road Safety Program, will start in late 2025 and continue into 2026.
