Iowa Lakeside Laboratory, a prominent water quality research facility, is set to begin construction on a new 8,000-square-foot building this fall.
The new facility will feature a classroom with a capacity for 150 students, providing year-round learning opportunities regardless of weather conditions.
“Right now, we have one building that is year-round, so this more than doubles our year-round space for classes and gives kids an opportunity to get that hands on education with science and technology,” said Mary Skopec, executive director at Iowa Lakeside Laboratory.
The expansion will significantly increase student exposure to water quality testing conducted at the laboratory, marking the first new addition to the property in 25 years.
