Caldicot's new pathway

Caldicot's New Pathway

Monmouthshire Council has submitted plans for a 500-metre path through Caldicot Castle, supporting the 20-minute neighbourhood initiative.

The path aims to ease access for pedestrians, cyclists, and wheelchair users, creating a traffic-free route through the castle grounds and surrounding villages, including Caerwent, Portskewett, Crick, and Sudbrook.

The council's proposed replacement local development plan also allocates land for up to 700 new homes east of Caldicot and north of Portskewett, with new housing to be built within a 20-minute walking distance of existing shops and services.

The 20-minute neighbourhood initiative aims to create areas where people can easily reach shops and services on foot.

Author's summary: Caldicot Castle gets a new path.
