Kings Sign Precious Achiuwa, Waive Isaac Jones

The Sacramento Kings have signed forward/center Precious Achiuwa to a one-year, minimum-salary deal, according to a team announcement. To clear a roster spot, the team has waived second-year forward Isaac Jones.

“The Kings have officially signed Achiuwa and waived Jones,” the team said in its official press release at 4:52 p.m.

Earlier in the day, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Sacramento had reached an agreement with Achiuwa and was expected to part ways with Jones. NBA insider Jake Fischer first noted the team’s interest in Achiuwa, while Brett Siegel of Clutch Points suggested that Jones would likely be released if the signing occurred.

The Kings have struggled with frontcourt depth since losing Keegan Murray to a thumb injury last month. With their starting power forward sidelined, Sacramento has often used smaller lineups and increased minutes for rookies Nique Clifford and Dylan Cardwell.
