Swedish Engineering Company Highlights China as Key Market

At the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, Swedish engineering and service company Alfa Laval reaffirmed its commitment to China, describing it as the company’s most important market.

CEO and CFO Statements

CEO Tom Erixon and CFO Fredrik Ekstrom discussed Alfa Laval’s focus on China in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV). They emphasized China’s critical role in the company’s growth and the global energy transition.

“Sometimes it’s important that we, as a team, experience the same thing. It’s very much a learning experience from what is for us the most important market in the world, China,”

said Erixon.

Expo Opportunities

Ekstrom highlighted the value of the expo in facilitating meetings with government officials, customers, and partners. He explained:

“I think it’s a mix of meeting government officials, it’s meeting our customers, and of course, it’s expanding our view of what’s happening in China at the same time because when you look around, you really get a true sense of how important China is as a market for the rest of the world and why it’s important for us to be here as well. In fact, it’s 20 percent of our turnover. But more importantly, we look at it as a future market because China leads the global energy transition right now.”

Impact of China’s Five-Year Plans

Erixon noted that China’s Five-Year Plans have been instrumental for Alfa Laval’s long-term strategy, describing them as “very predictive of what’s actually going to happen.”

Summary

Alfa Laval recognizes China as a pivotal market, crucial for its business growth and leadership in the global energy transition, with strategic planning aligned to China’s national policies.
