Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, indicated the company may need to build a large chip fabrication facility for its AI chip production. At Tesla’s annual meeting, Musk suggested a potential partnership with Intel, although no formal agreement has been made.
“You know, maybe we’ll, we’ll do something with Intel. We haven’t signed any deal, but it’s probably worth having discussions with Intel.”
Tesla is working on its fifth-generation AI chip designed to advance its autonomous driving capabilities. These chips support Tesla’s Full Self-Driving software and autonomous systems. Currently, Tesla utilizes its fourth-generation chip and collaborates with Taiwan’s TSMC and South Korea’s Samsung for manufacturing.
Recently, Tesla shareholders approved a $1 trillion compensation plan for Musk over the next decade, supporting his vision of transforming Tesla into a leader in AI and robotics.
Elon Musk envisions Tesla expanding into AI chip production, considering a partnership with Intel while advancing its autonomous technology through in-house chip designs and strategic collaborations.
