A court heard that Safi Dawood, charged with the murder of Wayne Broadhurst, is an Afghan refugee permitted to remain in the UK until 2027.
The 49-year-old victim, Wayne Broadhurst, died following a violent knife attack in west London that also injured two others. Prosecutors stated that he had been stabbed 14 times during the assault in Uxbridge on 27 October 2025.
During a hearing at the Old Bailey on 3 November, Dawood appeared via video link from Wandsworth prison and confirmed his identity before Judge Mark Lucraft KC. The judge scheduled a plea hearing for 12 January and a provisional trial lasting up to three weeks from 20 July 2026.
The court was told that Dawood had been due to leave his accommodation in Uxbridge three days before the attack took place.
Prosecutors said Broadhurst and Dawood were not known to each other before the incident.
