Mick Glynn, a controversial town councillor, has stepped down as Mayor of Hatfield Town Council (HTC), ending his brief tenure leading the authority. He resigned around midday on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, but will remain a councillor for Dunscroft on HTC.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) confirmed Glynn’s resignation through two independent sources. A new mayor is expected to be elected at the upcoming town council meeting on Monday, November 10. Glynn did not respond to requests for comment from LDRS.

Glynn’s resignation comes shortly after a vote in October 2025 to remove Councillor Mark Broadhurst from the deputy mayor position. Following the vote, James Hart was elected as the new deputy mayor.
Both Glynn and Broadhurst have faced conduct hearings with the City of Doncaster Council in 2025:
- In March, Glynn was sanctioned for his treatment of the HTC clerk during 2024, which led to the clerk's departure from the council.
- Broadhurst was sanctioned in September 2025 over social media posts described as “clearly racist, islamophobic, anti-semitic, and highly offensive”. This led to recommendations for his removal as deputy mayor.
