Novak Djokovic advanced to the final of the Athens Open after defeating Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-4 in Friday’s semifinal. The Serbian champion maintained his perfect run in Greece, winning all three matches without dropping a set.
The opening set remained tight on serve until the sixth game. After missing his first break opportunity in game four, Djokovic created three more chances in game six and converted the last one, taking the set in 37 minutes.
In the second set, Hanfmann briefly led 3-1 after breaking Djokovic, but the 24-time Grand Slam winner quickly responded with two consecutive breaks, dominating from there until closing the match with a flawless hold.
The 38-year-old now moves on to his 144th career tour-level final, where he will face either Lorenzo Musetti or Sebastian Korda in the tournament’s showpiece clash.
