Robbie Williams has resurrected the iconic 1990s TV show The Word for the music video of his new single, "Pretty Face," from his upcoming album Britpop.
The Word was a groundbreaking cultural program airing on Channel 4 Friday nights from 1990 to 1995, known for featuring alternative musical acts. Although Williams never performed on the show during its original run, he has now recreated its atmosphere in his video by traveling back to the mid-90s.
“This is my ‘DeLorean Moment’ back to 1995 .. The Word was the late-night gateway to so many – Nirvana, Oasis, Happy Mondays… If BRITPOP is the album I would have made, then THIS would have been the TV show…. now a (virtual) reality.”
"Pretty Face" is the fourth single from Britpop, following earlier releases "Rocket," "Spies," and "Human." The album, scheduled for release on February 6, 2026, features collaborations with Chris Martin of Coldplay, Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes, and Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath.
Author's summary: Robbie Williams nostalgically revives the 1990s TV show The Word in his latest video, connecting his new Britpop album to that era's music culture while featuring notable collaborations.
