Zarine Khan, wife of veteran actor-filmmaker Sanjay Khan and mother to Sussanne and Zayed Khan, died at her Mumbai home at the age of 81 after a prolonged illness. She had been unwell for some time with age-related health issues.
Zarine is survived by her husband Sanjay Khan and their four children: Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, Farah Ali Khan, and actor Zayed Khan. The family has requested privacy during this time of mourning.
Before marrying Sanjay Khan in 1966, Zarine had a brief but memorable career in Hindi cinema, starring in films such as Tere Ghar Ke Saamne and Ek Phool Do Mali. Their love story began serendipitously at a bus stop, leading to a lifelong partnership.
“Nothing, I mean nothing, can truly be achieved without your mother’s blessings. Love and peace,” shared Zayed Khan in April this year.
“All that I do and all that I create in my life has to do with the way you formed my heart, my mind and my grit. I am so honoured and grateful to be your little girl,” wrote Sussanne Khan in a heartfelt birthday message earlier this year.
Known for her grace, warmth, and quiet strength, Zarine Khan leaves behind a legacy deeply rooted in love, family, and cherished memories of Bollywood’s golden era.
Her enduring influence and nurturing spirit made a lasting impact on her family and endeared her to many in the film industry.
