Elder Gérald Caussé is the first member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from France and has served as the Church’s presiding bishop for the past decade. Elder Caussé, 62, was ordained on the same day by Oaks along with other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. At the time of his call, he was serving as the presiding bishop of the Church.
A native of Bordeaux, France, Elder Caussé is the fourth member of the current Quorum born outside the United States. He and his wife, Sister Valérie Caussé, have raised three children across multiple countries including France, Germany, and the United States.
“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ. He’s always been in the center of my life. And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ. That’s the best responsibility or stewardship we might have in our lives.”
Recently, Elder Caussé spoke at the annual Utah YSA conference in Salt Lake City and has addressed youth and young adults in various church settings throughout his leadership service.
Summary: Elder Gérald Caussé, the first French Apostle and former Church presiding bishop, brings decades of service and a strong testimony of Jesus Christ to his new role in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
