The NHS has issued a public call for action, urging eligible people to get their flu vaccinations as soon as possible. England’s top nurse warned that with only weeks left before the harshest part of winter, protection against the flu is essential.
This year, flu cases have appeared much earlier than usual and are already triple the number recorded at the same time last year. The NHS hopes that rapid vaccination uptake will help contain this early wave before the seasonal peak hits.
Chief Nursing Officer for NHS Sussex, Allison Cannon, shared her personal commitment by taking the flu vaccine herself and encouraged others to do the same.
“The flu vaccination is the best possible way to protect yourself and your loved ones against flu as we move into the winter months. It’s a quick and easy, painless injection and it really will help you keep yourself and your family well through winter.”
Health officials are emphasizing that acting now will provide the full benefit of protection during the peak of the flu season.
The NHS urges early flu vaccination, warning of rising infection rates and stressing quick action to protect communities before winter peaks.
