Kevin Durant Opens Up About His Views on Marriage
Kevin Durant recently shared his thoughts on marriage and relationships during an episode of Bobbi Althoff’s podcast, Not This Again. The NBA star, 37, expressed that he is not interested in getting married and prefers relationships without high expectations.
Durant’s Perspective on Marriage and Divorce
Durant explained that divorce seems more realistic to him, given the high rate of marriages ending in divorce. He said,
“I think divorce is actually more of a realistic… ‘cause I mean, the percent is higher.”
Althoff noted that about 50% of marriages end in divorce, to which Durant responded,
“That's not good odds.”
When Althoff compared this to the tougher odds he faces in basketball, Durant replied,
“Yeah. But still, that's like banking on the rest, like, forever though. … I don't know if I want to take those odds.”
His Views on Relationship Commitment
Durant clarified that his doubts about marriage are more about the day-to-day relationship than the idea of the institution itself. He questioned the reality of spending every day with the same person:
“Do I want to be with this somebody every day? Hang with the same person every day?”
He also shared that a traditional wedding was never something he imagined for himself:
“I never really dreamt of having a wedding day. It was never really when I go to weddings. This is cool.”
