Gateway League champions Downey aim to avoid an upset on the road against San Juan Hills. Senior quarterback Oscar Rios and junior receiver Damani Porras form a powerful connection. If Downey starts quickly, they should overcome San Juan Hills, led by senior quarterback Timmy Herr.
Long Beach Wilson (9-1), 7 p.m.
Wilson, riding a six-game winning streak, benefits from the leadership of senior quarterback Mack Cooper and senior receiver/defensive back Thomas Jones. The Moore League champions boast a diverse offense, with running back Kori Scott rushing for 1,032 yards and nine touchdowns at an average of 7.5 yards per carry. Sophomore Jemel Grigsby adds to the ground attack with 540 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 10.8 yards per carry.
