VIENTIANE, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) — The annual That Luang festival has begun in the Lao capital, bringing five days of vibrant celebration, spiritual devotion, and lively commerce. The event not only highlights the cultural richness of Laos but also stimulates local tourism and trade.
Held from November 1 to 5, the festival stands as one of the country's most significant cultural gatherings. It unites tradition, business, and community in a joyful and dynamic atmosphere.
Beyond cultural preservation, many participants view the festival as an ideal marketplace. The event encourages spending and helps small entrepreneurs connect with thousands of daily visitors.
“Last year, I watched my friends run food stalls during the festival, and I was amazed at how much they earned in just a few days. It made me realize that even a small business, in a big crowd like this, can grow quickly and reach many people,” said Phoum, a 25-year-old resident of Vientiane.
Inspired by friends who found success selling food, Phoum and his team set up a small stall offering drinks and snacks this year, aiming to earn additional income during the celebrations.
