A commonality among saints is their complete commitment.
The protagonist in Graham Greene's novel "The Power and the Glory" is a flawed priest, who, as he awaits execution, reflects on his life. Greene writes:
Tears poured down his face. He felt an immense disappointment … It seemed to him at that moment that it would have been quite easy to have been a saint. It would only have needed a little self-restraint, and a little courage.
The question remains, should all followers of Christ aspire to become saints? The answer is yes, but it's not easy.
Author's summary: Striving to be a saint is a Christian aspiration.
